CHECK WHEN YOU SHOULD GET THE SHOT AGAIN!

Yes, this is April where the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Health Observances (NHOs) are focusing on the following topics… Minority Health, Public Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and Immunization to improve the health of our nation.

Also, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services designates April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  All of these topics are very important to everyone’s health and welfare.  However, when looking at the world stage the coronavirus is still causing a major health challenge to loom over the world.

Health Legacy of Cleveland, Ohio is encouraging everyone to consider the below information provided by the CDC:

CDC recommends everyone ages 12 years and older receive a COVID vaccine booster after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

It is recommended that you booster up when your birth cohort is eligible or you have a pre-existing condition.  Recent information encourages a second booster shot for people over 50 or immunocompromised (and at least 12 years old).  Always check with your primary care physician to double check when you should get additional shots for your personal situation.

Be Reminded of the Benefits of Getting the Covid-19 Vaccinations and Booster Shots:

  1. They reduce the spread of disease to loved ones. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 can lower your risk of getting and spreading the virus.
  2. Vaccines can also help prevent serious illness and death.
  3. All steps have been taken to ensure that vaccines are safe and effective for people ages 5 years and older.

* Help protect people who can’t be vaccinated, like newborns or those with chronic illnesses.
